Damn you  Blog by Sleven,  Category: Rant

I have several complains.

1. I can't believe an article like this has only 4 comments Undecided A little appreciation for such awesome article doesn't hurt you much. Where as I've seen a lot of you guys posting craps in other places.

2. I won't feel like signing up for a site when the Featured user blog will have only 6 comments. We seriously lack in quality blogs. I don't remember when is the last time I've read a fine Editorial here Undecided

3. I won't be reading your blogs unless you read mine. Don't expect me to give a s***t about what you have to say after you pop up once in a while and say sorry I was away bla bla bla.

4. I try to help by recruiting and no one cares to keep in touch with the new comers. I though we were different and we not only welcome the noobs, we take a step forward to let them get into the community. (This ain't for you Tanya). When I first joined here, scenarios were different.

5. Funny but our site's page rank has gone down to 2 from 4.

Sorry if I sound rude but I felt like sharing my disappointments. Some of you guys are still awesome and that's the only reason I'm sticking to the site.

Your right, I don't spend any time reading peoples blogs. I just jump right over to the forums, I used to be a big time blog reader...guess I should get back to that.

Whoa, a little angry, are we?

Joking aside, I can kind of understand where you're coming from. The more comments a blog/review/preview/feature the more it's "attractive" in a way. Sure, it's awesome if we could actually have 100 comments in every single one of our articles, but keep in mind that our site is still small.

Plus I feel lots of newcomers are more inclined to hang out in the forums more than read our writers' articles anyway. Maybe we should add more personality and flair to our articles, or make up or talk about topics they would actually be interested in reading from top to bottom (suggestions are open). For now, the forums is NoobFeed's strongest point. That's not a bad thing at all.

Perhaps I'm guilty of not hanging out in the forums more often (hence, why I haven't been commuting with the newer newcomers as of late). For that, I apologize. If this blog is aimed at people like me, it's fine. Not only I'm a writer for NoobFeed, but I'm also a member. So I guess keeping in touch with numerous people is a given. It's just that I haven't taken advantage of it, I feel.

I consider myself guilty in your account. Even though I don't post much, I always read what most of you are posting. Since I browse using my cell phone, I find it difficult to post much. Thanks to your blog that has made me post today.

Don't worry about the moderation Sleven. Unless you do something really offensive, there isn't such threat Smile

@Sleven - the only thing that make this blog questionable for a moderation is your lack of fully censoring one word. Lucky you it doesn't seem to be a report and action tool for blogs yet :lol

Thank you all for reading. The reason I posted this rant because I want to see NoobFeed grow. I didn't mean to offend any of you. I know you all care the same way I too. I'm really sorry for the inappropriate attitude. I consider myself lucky for not getting moderated.

Sorry to see that you're so worked up on these problems, but they do happen. Is just a matter of fact. There aren't too many active users that go around browsing every article on the site so it's quite normally that there wouldn't be too much on the comments part, but with time this will change.

As far as I'm concerned I don't post comments on articles related to anything I'm not interested in (ex movies and sports) nor do I go around posting them on random people's blogs though I do read these articles to give myself a ideea on the subject if it's something that catches my eye. This may apply to others as well.

And related to the new guys, well, I don't have a habbit of checking everyone out and adding them to my friends list. I'm not very good at making friends nor do I like to see that I know lots of people that added me for an unknown purpose. But if anyone cares to add me to their friendlist I'll gladly accept(well at least on NF) and will check their blogs and comment if it's the case.

I'm sorry, Slevi, that you feel this way. You are a really big part of NF and to see the results you have been can really be irritating and a disappointment.

Anyway, my apologies if I don't check out your stuff so much. As for NF browsing, I've been a lot more in the forums nowadays. It's a lot quicker to check through forum posts than read lengthy blogs and articles to me at least.

But please don't be so upset. I'm sure things will turn out to be good as for website activity!

dear Sleven, this is the first time i am gonna live a comment here, and i will do it only because of you. I will share with you and all users of noobfeed smth that i didn't tell before to you and neather to Tanya.

I am a user that comes every day here just to talk to you even you don't reply me any more Smile but its ok, but i still read your blogs and spend some time around.
When i firstly came here i felt like every one was close to each other and you guys were very good friends, i felt like a new arrived in family. Some how i still do Smile this is because of my choice. I don't feel like to comment anywere even you all did comment at my blog and were all friendly to me. I really am a person that feels like to be too far from the world of this site and...i still come back here and spend time with you all. Isn't this a succes??

And the second sucess is that i am finaly leaving a comment Smile your blog really had effect on me.

Keep going like this noobfeed family, even i am not an inportand part of it ,but i am allways in the bedroom sleeping, i will hear if you make noice there on the blog's page Tongue out

sorry if i don't comment, but i do read your (and most of everyone else's) blogs, and it's pretty much valid for articles too: most of the time, i just don't have anything to agree or disagree with, nothing worth commenting.

also, i've been away for a week, i have a lot of catching up to do.

I understand what you feel. Its always expected that the comments that will come in the blogs and featured articles would be random. The userbase is still very low for a site like this. Imagine the featured blogs here in NF are published elsewhere where the userbase is very strong, eg: Gamespot. The comments that the blog have in NF (6) may get doubled or tripled or maybe quadrapled. Its how statistics work based on the userbase. It is true that many people dont have time to read long blogs, but still users dont have to be discouraged by this. Yes I write long blogs and even write every alternate days (today I am gonna write another one). Its the thing I love most. As for number 3, every user has preferences which subject they love or which user writing they love and so on. A lot of factors works. As I said before you dont want to expect all user commenting your blogs. Well I also remember I wrote a marathon 4 blogs in one day. Got only 1-3 comments. Still I was not mad, coz maybe I thought I am actually making others a tough time to read all the blogs. I kept on reading other blogs. If people stops reading each other blogs for this reason, then the community itself that NoobFeed is so proud of does not work. About number 4, yes I have problem since I dont go to forum so much and I easily go out of track. So i stick to blogs. But if I find any new users here and there posting blogs, i go there and greet them. Your PMs to everyone worked. Its like people's preference where they want to stick. It wont be wise enough to expect people logged in NF for so long and browse every last piece of new updates (forum thread or blogs). Imagine if NF gets bigger, what will happen then. So dont be frustrated. Maybe expect what worse may come but dont let it discourage you. Everyone here is still your friend here and they are remembering you one way or the other. As for page rank, dont worry about it, coz some big stuffs are coming out.

Easy there Sleven. Activity may very time to time. Don’t forget it’s summer break time, which means vacation!

1: We have a very small number of active users, most of whom come mainly for the forums. You can't expect everyone to comment on every article we publish -- or, at least not yet, anyway.

2: Perhaps that's because most of the site's hired most of the excellent writers here? That's really the only plausable explanation for that. Maybe it's about time I start flexing those editorial muscles...

3: Whoa! Watch that launguage, man! Don't wanna get moderated, do ya? Also, what's with the sudden hostility? They're just blogs, dude. You don't have to make a big deal out of it...

4: Or, maybe its the newcomers that aren't keeping in touch with us. It's pretty typical for people to join a site, be active for a few days, then never return or resort to lurking. Just something to think about.

5: Is that a bad thing?

A short blog receives more comments than a long one... People are lazy.

mm.. not sure how to feel about this. You mark some good points, but at stuff like welcoming new people, we do it, yet some of these people never reply, never post blogs, never post anything, and yet we're the ones on the line not keeping in touch.

I'll agree that editorials don't get much comments, nor do featured blogs. I myself don't comment on editorials/featured blogs much I must admit, though I still check them out when one sparks my interests, whether I comment on it or not.

Oh and lol, your blog scared off DeltaX's connection ;p

Don't need to express your opinion like that, Sleven. There are other ways. Wink

Regarding the "quality" field, I think we have some creative users that can write a good editorial, still, don't expect 20-30 comments here, because usually the readers won't look into a wall of text and read it all.

EDIT: When I write an editorial, I don't expect a good amount of comments because the most important thing here is that the readers receive its message. However, there are times that we have something like this...

:0 That was a nice blog. Kept logging me out whenever I looked at it, though. Hmm.

I'm bad when it comes to talking with newcomers. Frown
