The ongoing Steam Game Festival has obliterated our inbox with games, which is sort of the Valve thing to do these days. Dozens upon dozens of upcoming releases are currently offering game demos on the online store. So, after reading a lot of pitches, we've selected a few interesting games to try during this limited time.

Steam Game Festival, Games, Mars Horizon, Rain On Your Parade, Ruinarch, Towaga: Among Shadows, Paradise Lost, Windjammers 2

Mars Horizon

A space simulation game, Mars Horizon is part builder, part space exploration. Before even going into space, players are tasked with forming a base, as well as designing the rocket that will get them where they need to go. Additionally, the game will host a livestream of their full release, coming later this year to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Moreover, the stream will feature someone from the European Space Agency. Think of a light Kerbal Space Program.

Rain On Your Parade

Quite literal in its name, Rain On Your Parade asks players to wield a cloud around bright, colorful areas, to ruin everyone's day. There's a childlike innocence infused in the game and some customizable fun to be had as well. The full game will launch on PC and consoles in 2021. For fans of such gems like the Katamari games or the goose one; you know the one.

Ruinarch

Nothing feels like unlimited potential quite like emergent, procedural gameplay. With a powerful demon at the helm, players build structures, cast spells and unleash monsters to conquer the lands by any means necessary. Ruinarch also features random storytelling, which can lead to even more replayability. If you love games like Rimworld, but with a fantasy, Dungeon Keeper twist, this is for you.

Towaga: Among Shadows

While your standard twin-stick shooter isn't the most original thing this game certainly has a look to it. With a uniquely drawn style, as well as alternating dynamics between being mobile and immobile, Towaga looks like it might tingle different brain parts. For those who have played Savant, in particular, this seems worth a shot.

Paradise Lost

There is room in these recommendations to get sad as well. Paradise Lost is an adventure game that explores the atrocities of World War II. What if the war never ended and things just got worse? One child roams through this apocalyptic world, uncovering the history behind the humanity of it all. The Polish developer has previously worked on games like Killzone and Ryse.

Windjammers 2

Does Windjammers even need an introduction anymore? The sequel no one saw coming is, in fact, still coming. The Steam Game Festival makes the game playable for the first time ever, so definitely go check it out, for some classic arcade fun.
