i'm pretty sure AC didn' sell for it's epic story as much as it sold for "medieval parkour with cool hidden knife and lots of stealth murders".

put any other guy in white on the first AC and you won't even notice altair was gone.

no, i just realize that altair is a freaking bland character with no backstory, no motives, no personality, no nothing. he just roams around following orders. but any of those NPCs in white from the assassin village as the main character and you won't even notice the difference.
