I use them a lot actually. I don't read them word for word but I usually have one open to kind of have an idea how much of the game I have left, and also if I get stuck the answer is right there, saves time. Otherwise it just sits there while I game, but it's good knowing it's there just in case.

Unless I got stuck I never use it on my first playthrough. Part of the fun is figuring out the hard puzzles

I'm with Horgen. I guess no one needs a walkthrough unless he's stuck in any stage.

I have to add that Pokemon games is an exception. Used a walkthrough on some parts of SoulSilver when I played through it. Not ebcause I was stuck, however because I wanted to read up on how to catch one of the legendary pokemons there.

my brother managed to get stuck on pokemon... more than once. and not because he'd lose, but because he didn't know what to do.

When I was younger I used them pretty often, but now I find that it takes away from the experience, so I only will resort to one if I have been stuck for forever on a puzzle, or need tips on a boss.

Most of the time walkthrough makes me confused. I figure out after few try eventually. But there are some games I do use Cheatcode. Games like GTA when there is a time limit for any mission and I can't make it no matter how hard I try.

Games like GTA IV makes impossible to not use a walktrough if you aim for 100%. Hunting those birds took me a lot of time. There are others games that requires a lot of items searching, in other words, every game has its own items to collect.

For the games that I really love, I'll buy the game guide along with it, but I'll use it only on the second+ playthroughs to obtain everything I missed the first time around.
So technically, yes I'll use guides but only for subsequent playthroughs, I don't use any for the first one. I could be stuck somewhere for 3 weeks and it wouldn't matter, I don't want the guide on the first playthrough lol. At the very last resort maybe, but I'd usually just ask someone who played the game rather than fetch a guide.
