Michel Ancel, who acted as lead director on Beyond Good and & Evil, has chosen to leave the video game industry and focus on his main passion: caring for wild life. Ancel was most recently working on two major projects: Wild a Sony exclusive on PlayStation 4 and Beyond Good and Evil 2 for Ubisoft. He clarified that both teams are fully automatous and the team will continue after his absence.
Ubisoft also further confirmed that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in development and that they are ramping up their recruitment within the Paris studio. They are hoping to show off more of the game in 2021. The game has been in limbo for quite some time. The first story trailer was released in 2008, followed by a leaked gameplay snippet in 2009. However, the team decided to rework the game as a prequel and officially announce the new direction in 2016. With so many delays and retoolings, many fans are skeptical at how much of the game has actually been made.
