President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Andrew House, confirmed to Financial Times that an upgrade PS4 is in development; describing it as a "high-end PS4".

House said that the system won't be at E3 2016 and it will cost more than the $350 model currently available.

"It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4" House said. "We want to ensure we have a full range of the best experiences on the new system that we can showcase in ther entirely".

The upgraded console will support ultra-hig definition 4K resolutions, which has been rumored about the system. House stated extra work would be needed to develop for the PS4K but all games will be supported by the original PS4 system.

Finally the upgraded PS4 will not be sold at a loss.

Since March rumors have been spreading about not only an upgraded PS4 but a new Xbox One model. Recently more details regarding the new PS4, called PS4 Neo, were supplemented with information about the specs.
