Not all monks follow the traditional Dungeons & Dragons mantra of unarmed combat. In Redeemer, a game for PC that’s coming to Steam and GOG in spring of 2017, the monk in question fights back with any means necessary.
Story goes that this character, Vasily, is an ex-operative, working for arms industry corporations. Those organizations have been tracking down their employee for 20 years and are finally coming around to tie up loose ends. That’s plot device enough for the monk to start cracking bones, bashing skulls and even blast away with any weaponry laying about. The redeemer will make use of knives, hammers and even shotguns, to destroy any opposition towards the road to enlightenment. It’s as if Zenyatta from Overwatch taught the exact opposite perspective in tranquility. Check out a trailer below:
Redeemer takes place in a top-down perspective, giving the game a slight Diablo-like allure. Well, hopefully the game is more like Diablo and a bit less like Bombshell, who tried a similar approach last year. Not all games are created equal. Developer Sobaka Studio is a rather unknown entity so far, so this first major project has a lot riding on it.
Would you want to play the Redeemer? Let us know in the comments.
