Rising Storm 2: Vietnam Treads New Ground

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam takes players to a new era while also offering hats.

When hearing the names Red Orchestra and Rising Storm, the thought of large, realism-filled online battles set during the Second World War should come to mind. If you're me, that might go more down the line of being shouted at for shooting distant dots that ended up being teammates. Regardless of which side you're on, a sequel is coming later this year, as Antimatter Games and Tripwire Interactive have Rising Storm 2: Vietnam in the works.

With Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, the series takes a shot at a more modern conflict and, implicitly arsenal. Players will be able to play as both US and Vietnamese forces. Each of these will have their own strengths, with US forces boasting stuff like helicopters, while the Vietnamese will rely more on guerilla tactics. The 64 player territory control mode from past games is returning alongside two new modes. The first of these, Supremacy, will feature large scale combat that includes the use of helicopters and VC tunnels. Skirmish, on the other hand, will focus on 16 players, being a squad-oriented experience. Players will also have the option of customizing soldiers with different cosmetic items.

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is set to release sometime in Q2 of 2017. The Digital Deluxe edition is currently available for pre-order, for the discounted price of 20,99€ or your regional equivalent. The Digital Deluxe items includes the official soundtrack, access to the next beta wave, alongside some early and exclusive cosmetic unlocks. Pre-purchasing the Deluxe Edition will get you it at a price cheaper than that of the full game on launch, as stated on the game's Steam page.
