Spider-Man PS4 is one of the most anticipated games on the PS4 and during a livestream from Insomniac Games HQ Senior Writer Jon Paquette, Art Director Jacinda Chew, Creative Director Brian Intihar, and Community Director James Stevenson shared a lot of great information on the game.
We learned that the entire game was shown at the Paris Games Week was in-engine and that the actor playing Peter Parker was scanned doing performance capture.
In the livestream, we learned that Peter's relationship with Mary Jane, who is playable, will be "complicated", that Peter's bracelets are actually webshooters, and the game will focus on Peter failing whereas Spider-Man succeeds.
Miles Morales will also play an active role in the game. Volunteering at Peter Li's shelters he's 15, Peter is 23, and both characters will interact with one another. It was also confirmed that Morales was added to the game but wasn't in the original concept.
Norman Osborn will also make an appearance as Mayor of NYC running for re-election. The landmarks of NYC will appear in the correct address as the team will try to recreate the city but don't expect a 1-to-1 reproduction.
The suit was another topic of discussion as Jacinda Chew explained that the physical-based rendering, causing highlights in the strong to be stronger in interior spaces.
Peter's room displays a lot of hints about the current period of Spider-Man's career. Peter's room has an eviction notice along with several posters including a photo of Peter, Mary Jane, and Harry Osborn from High School and a photo of Aunt May and Uncle Ben.
What we do know about the villains of Spider-Man PS4 is that Kingpin, Shocker, and Mr. Negative will make an appearance. This is still early on in the game's development so we can expect more villains, personally, I'm hoping for Venom and Carnage.
Spider-Man PS4 is set to release in 2018 for PS4.
