EA Star Wars Battlefront 2 New Progression Detailed

A new progression system on the way for Battlefront 2

When Star Wars Battlefront 2 launched it set the internet on fire, not for stellar gameplay and an encouraging progression system but the predatory nature of its microtransaction system. Now EA and DICE have detailed the changes being made to Battlefront 2's progression system.

The most significant change is that progression is linear, which means star cards and all gameplay changing rewards are earned through leveling. Experience points are given for characters, classes, and ships that earn you skill points to level up or unlock star cards.

Loot boxes no longer contain star cards and can only be earned through daily login bonuses, milestones, and timed challenges. Cosmetic items like poses and emotes can be obtained through crates but nothing gameplay related is in loot boxes.

In April, cosmetic outfits can be purchased through in-game credits or virtual currency. These include outfits for troopers and heroes.

These changes are a major step as we continue to improve the core of the game and add new content. And there’s a lot more to come. In addition to continued balance patches, we will also add a number of modes to Star Wars Battlefront II in the coming months, offering several standout, brand-new ways to play. Some of these, like the recently released limited-time Jetpack Cargo, are radically different than anything you've experienced in the game before, and we're excited to surprise you with what we have planned.

The new progression system launches March 21st with cosmetics coming this April.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is now available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
