StarCraft II Launches  News by fishdalf

StarCraft fans have been waiting twelve long years for a sequel, and finally, after much anticipation that day has arrived. July 26 marks the release of what is sure to be one of the fastest and greatest selling games of all-time, with reports of nearly a million copies being pre-sold already. That number is set to reach passed the million mark and beyond by the end of the week.

Fans Starry-Eyed as they pick up their copies

While StarCraft II probably won’t reach the dizzying heights of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which to date is the most successful entertainment launch in history, it will surely break most, if not all PC records. Millions of stores worldwide have already staged successful midnight launches, so eager fans can get their hands on a copy.

In addition to the launch, the development costs of the game have also been brought into the spotlight this past week, with The Wall Street Journal claiming the game cost 100 million dollars to make. However, a statement from the developers has recently quashed this, stating, “Blizzard Entertainment has never disclosed the development cost of StarCraft II, and for competitive reasons, we will not do so”.

Have you got your copy yet?
Where have you, or will you be picking yours up from?

This is one of the most anticipated games of recent times. I think this game might break some sale records. I don't intend of picking this one up, but if I get a chance I won't hesitate.

I’ll have to wait for few weeks to get my copy in hand. I didn’t play the first SC game but its popularity allured me to buy its sequel. I hope I’ll enjoy playing it as I loved playing AoE.

*wondering why the game hasn't been delivered at home yet*...

On a side note, I hope it breaks the CoD record.

@ILIAS : It will break the CoD record. And, I'm wondering the same thing too.

It will truly be something if it does, simply because CoD is such a global brand now and everyone associates it as 'the' shooter to own. Not to mention Modern Warfare 2 was multiplatform, therefore reaching a much larger audience.
