Unfortunately the line-up of games set for release this year just got that little bit weaker, after it was announced that SOCOM 4 had been pushed back to 2011.
Zipper Interactive, the developers behind the title, confirmed that the game simply wouldn’t be ready in time and needed some ‘extra polish’. The official website states, “While we’re certainly aware that you’ve been looking forward to playing SOCOM 4 this year, we don’t want to take any shortcuts. Instead, we want to deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game we possibly can and we’re going to use our extra time to do just that.”

SOCOM'ed to Delays
So it’s time to take off the overhauls, put down the replica rifle (we hope it’s a replica), and satisfy your first-person shooting needs with one of the other superb titles due out before the years end. There are a number to whet your appetite, including Medal of Honour, Halo: Reach and Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Sony can’t be happy with this latest development though, as it does hinder the strength of their holiday exclusivity. Now they’ll have to rely on their other two gaming giants in Gran Turismo 5 and LittleBigPlanet 2, both of which will surely bring in large revenue.
