The silly man returns.  Category: General

Quite a few months have passed by since I last spawned a blog post here. I've had a bunch of ... issues , which have been solved more or less. So , on with the updates.

I decided to change directions in school and switched from the mathematics-informatics profile class to the philology class. It took me two years to realise that maths and informatics wasn't really the thing for me and even if I regred not following a music school of sorts , I figure philology would be the right thing to go with , since I love english more than romanian and since I'm a big history nerd.

I've had the utmost pleasure of seeing a bunch of bands in two major events I will never forget. The first one was , as you people know , AC/DC which put on the best show I've ever seen in my entire life. There were really no flaws to mention. The sound was excellent , I was in the front row of my area (which was Normal Circle , I couldn't afford a Golden Circle ticket , you'll see why) , the opening bands were decent (Down was the first one , southern rock , band led by Phil Anselmo , I reccomend you listen to "Stone the Crow" to get a good taste of what they're playing , Iris came in after , they're a known romanian band I don't fancy much , but they did their job) , the guys in AC/DC had an enourmous ammount of energy and , well the setlist was perfect.

The other big event , was day 2 of the Sonisphere Festival in Bucharest. Now , the thing with this , is that day 2 meant I got to see Anthrax , Megadeth , Slayer and Metallica. What can I say , the names speak for themselves. Anthrax kicked ass , Joey Belladonna was clearly living in the 80s up on that stage. Megadeth surprised me a lot. I was really sceptical towards their performance , but once they started playing , I totally wrecked myself for the duration of their concert. Dave Mustaine is one hell of a guy and they really gave it all. Not to mention the setlist was as good as it could get. Slayer were interesting. I'm not really a fan but they were good and , well , Dave Lombardo might just be the best metal drummer of all time ... I'm just saying. And then came Metallica. I wanted to see these guys live for quite a while now. They're the first metal band I listened to (and liked , to that matter) and well they're pretty darn epic. Their gig was absolutely brilliant. From the first note of Creeping Death to the last note of Seek and Destroy , I constantly sang or headbanged or shouted or whatever. It felt extremely natural , it was like some kind of strange energy exchange and James & co. gave everything out. The Metallica concert alone , was magical , let alone seeing all of these bands in one day on the same stage (while being alone , in the very first row , golden circle). The ticket may have been expensive , but it was worth it (and yes ,the linked band names lead to the setlists of their shows).

Now , I'm looking forward to seeing Iron Maiden on the 15th of August and possibly Ozzy Osbourne on the 2nd of October. Apart from this , I've been getting into a lot of progressive stuff lately and there's one band that I'd like to mention : Porcupine Tree. This band is constantly evolving and adding genres to their repertoire. I'm going to post some links to their songs in the next blog or whatever , but I just felt like pointing out that they're AWESOME and that you should buy their record "Deadwing" .

Gamingwise , my hard drive crashed a few days ago , so I lost most of my saves and I'm pissed because I had just finished Titan Quest and started the Immortal Throne campaign (and now I have to start it over from the very beginning D: ). If there are any TQ players out there that would like to share stories or builds with me , feel free to do so. I'm also getting a new PC later this year and Starcraft 2 , Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Warhammer 40k Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising. Too bad I can't sell my MW2 copy. I regret buying it.

I've started reading quite a lot lately (and that's because I'm weird , nerdy and a declared introvert). Yesterday I just finished Andrzej Sapkowski's "The Last Wish" . It's a series of short stories related to the witcher Geralt of Rivia. Sapkowski's writing style is very , very good and despite the large quantity of details it was a very easy and pleasant read. I prefer reading books in english rather than romanian , yeah O.o Now , I'll be getting into Dan Abnett's "Horus Rising"  , book which talks about the Horus Heresy period in the Warhammer 40k universe. I like the way Chaos is built in the Warhammer universe and I dream of becoming a sorcerer of Tzeentch one day.

Filmwise , I finished watching the first (and apparently the last) season of Flash Forward. Interesting series , I wish they would continue it , especially now when Heroes was cancelled and everything else is getting dull. I'm also watching "A bit of Fry and Laurie" . Classical british comedies ftw! Here's a rather amusing sketch of theirs.

Also , my hair has grown quite a bit.

And , since I know you didn't bother to read all of that and scrolled down as fast as you possibly could , I will do what everyone does these days , ignore the fact that the 20 minutes I lost when writing this were actually lost in vain , and treat you guys and gals with a video which you will most likely find entirely random or even retarded. Here you go.

You are too rude to say those last few words. I was angry after reading though the blogs and finally a very punching ending. Sorry about the hard disk crush. Why don't you send them to the recovery shop? You seemed very serious about those music shows. Why am I having this feeling that you are a musician too! And, finally I'm not into reading but I hope you enjoy it. It's a good hobby Smile

Glad to hear from you!! Seems like you are in serious concert mood. You are having serious fun then and more to come. About that MW2 thingy, I was lucky not to buy that game. I somehow manage to borrow the game from my roommate. Geralt of Rivia??? Seems famiier!!! Its the main character from the Witcher game. Very good game it is.

Dude...where have you been? It's been a while man. Of course, spending time listening to those bands live is one of the best things you could do

It sucks your hard drive crashed. I would be mad as well, if that happened to me. Hope you get that fixed Laughing

Welcome back mate Smile  Glad that you enjoyed the Sonisphere Festival. I was at the Athens Sonsiphere Festival a couple of days ago, where the "Big Four" performed, was really awesome, especially considering that the first 30mins of Metallica's gig were under rain. It was freaking awesome

I wasn’t expecting your return. I thought you were like other who can’t find even 10 mins for us. I’m surprised and happy at the same time.

I don’t know what your problem was but I’m happy to hear that you’ve sorted them out Smile I saw Ron’s comment in a picture where AC/DC concert took place and following that I saw your picture. You were suppose to show me your long hair photo but I saw it before you would Laughing Yes, your hair looks long and nice. You look like a guitarist yourself too Smile

I haven’t been reading anything lately since I don’t enjoy reading anymore. All I read these days are magazines Tongue out I hope you make it to the upcoming shows and I really hope that you visit us here regularly.

Hey welcome back! Laughing

Darky changed the school direction too, didn't he? As for the books, I want to try some Sapkowski too, I've heard from many people that his books are awesome. Smile If you haven't read Mario Puzo's The Godfather, give it a try. Wink One of the best books I've ever read...

Btw, I love 'A bit of Fry and Laurie' too, the sketch you posted is my most favourite. Laughing 'How do you spell *thump*?' 'Exactly it sounds.' lol

And lol at the end, the ostrich is funny. Laughing

oh no. The monkey smuggler is back Surprised *hiding the monkey I stole from zoo that day*

Welcome back mate. You never told us what was your problem but I'm glad to hear that you've fixed them. I remember your last blog re the AC/DC concert and the ticket you showed. Glad to hear you've enjoyed it. I hope you manage to get tickets for the upcoming concerts too. I know those tickets are expensive. Finding a summer job will help you out Wink

I too changed mathematics and took technical drawing. My dad was very upset about it since he wants me to become a accountant in future.

Sorry to hear about the disk crash. After so much time wasted on them, losing saved games is like losing a gf. I sold my MW2 for $5. I sold it not because I didn't like it. The game was superb.

Hey, Wooz! Long time no see! Laughing

Well I hope you do realise that it's a big difference between the two profiles(and I'm not strictly talking chicks-related)... But as long as you're happy with it then that's all that matters.(I didn't even took it into account as my skill in writing a composition is somewhat close to 0 Tongue out ). Ow, and don't be upset about the "music school of sorts" I know a guy who didn't go to such a thing and now does some pretty awesome concerts almost every two or three weeks.

Yeah, I heard a lot of good things about the concert but I couldn't have gone even if I wanted to.

Strange coincidence as mine died on me a few weeks back, also. And yeah i also want to buy a new rig, but I haven't even checked the prices for the parts yet...

AC55: Laughing!

Xiao: I can say that I know how to hold a guitar in my hands Tongue out

canana: Laughing!

Koshai: The Witcher is actually my favourite videogame of all time. And , as a matter of fact , I am in a serious concert mood!

azn_pride: It has , indeed , been a while. Glad to see you , as well!

bruno: You were the first person to come in mind when I actually wrote that!

ILIAS: Man , seeing the big four was epic. Disposable Heroes was a pleasant surprise! It rained back in 08 when they visited my country , but at Sonisphere there wasn't a drop of rain ... it frankly wouldn't have mattered anyway. You were lucky enough to get Budgie's Breadfan as a cover Tongue out

Tanya: I won't be here at all times , but I'll drop in and out every once in a while. And yeah , I guess my hair is pretty cool now Tongue out

monica: We're classmates , actually. I'll be sure to check out The Godfather whenever I find the time. Now I'm busy reading the 2nd book in the Witcher series , Blood of Elves and the 2nd book of the first triology from the Horus Heresy series , related to the Warhammer 40k universe. I just finished watching A bit of Fry and Laurie. Season 4 wasn't as great as the rest , but overall , the series was very good Laughing

sleven: I'm not much of a summer job type of guy. I prefer sleeping to it. Mathematics are hard.

Daktary: Quite the long time D: I know there's a difference ( and strangely enough there will be less chicks in the philology class Tongue out) but it was really the better option for me (since my skill in writing a Pascal algorithm is somewhere below -5). Well , I guess picking up music as a hobby can be fruitful to a certain extent as well. That's what I'm doing now. The concert was epic and , to be honest , I'm clueless about part prices as well.
