Hey, guys! Long time no see. I know that I've vanished sometime around E3 and never got the chance to check the site since then but that's just because I had my hands wrapped in problems.
So, what happened:
Firstly, my hard-drive died on me. Well, I guess 8 years would be enough for a hard-drive, though it's somehow my fault that it died(it isn't quite actually dead, but I can't seem to make it boot...). I haven't lost anything important, just my save from Hellgate: London(and the sheer thought of re-playing the that game from scratch gives me a migraine
),because I only used it to run Windows from it(I guessed the rig would run faster this way... and I still do). Besides this problem, my other hard-drive from back home was giving signs of old age as well(no wonder as the former owner wasn't the type to give it periodic maintenance...), so I've decided to buy a new one, replace the one from the uni and put that one back home, so I'd be sure to have a backup of all my stuff in case that anything were to happen. Well, easier said than done, because it gave me a lot of hardship to get it working on the rig back home. And I mean I took me about 2 weeks to figure out what was wrong with it. In the end there wasn't just one problem but 3 : an outdated BIOS, an faulty IDE peripheral and a physical BAD on the drive. I can't say that it was a pleasure to deal with this things but at least I've learnt some more debugging tricks.
Secondly, I've been busy with my final exams which are painstakingly hard pass. That being said, I kind of failed two of them(which also are the highest rated, although they don't have to much to do with my profile...) but I've managed to get the points needed to pass the year. I only have one exam left, on Monday, and I'll be free for a while. Well, at least 'till September when I'll have to retake the ones I've failed(and I really hope I can get some materials to study them this time...).
As far as E3 is related, I didn't find it that great this year. It had it's moments and some games to show, but it didn't shine. Maybe next year
Ow, and GameSpot really were a******s this year as they've deleted the emblem reporting thread on the day it should have been opened for E3 related problems. The explanation as always is simple : they didn't want to make a reporting thread this year, and in case you didn't get an emblem(because it was their fault) then that's too bad... And with that they've finally lost that little respect that I still had for them.
Gaming wise, there were lots of things going on and halting
I mean I stopped playing a lot of games it this period in the hope that I'd get bored and start studying out of sheer boredom
And to some degree it worked.
Right now I'm playing Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader(IMO an under-looked RPG which borrows some elements from Fallout but stands as a pretty decent, and somewhat hard, game), Crusader: No Remorse(I've finally got my hands on it, as I wanted to play it for years. It's an action game where you play as an ex-military commander now somewhat an assassin for the resistance group that tries to free the suffering people from the lies of the army, or something like that
) and Project: Nomads(even though it's on a standstill atm, I plan to finish it this time. The game is kida awkward to explain as it's some kind of action game mixed with some elements of strategy as you play of a flying island on which you build lots of different buildings but also play with your char who controls them and goes to battle or exploration on the other planets. It feels pretty weird sometimes but nevertheless it's a decent game).
Ow, and I also started playing Castle of Heroes(aka Heroes of Gaia in the US) which is essentially a Heroes of Might and Magic clone made exclusively for massively multiplayer on-line play
The game is ok, and runs directly from your browser, so you don't have to install anything. It's not the brightest thing ever made, but it'll have to do for the time being
I also managed to get 12 Portal achievements(and through fiddling with the console I got the other 3, but they don't want to show on my profile even though I didn't get any cheat warning otherwise I would have stopped doing that...) and I also made an Xbox Live account, even though there isn't any point to it atm, as I can't play almost any of the game with achievements on GFWL(except for Tinker, which is nerve-wrecking&hellip
because my PC isn't powerful enough. I do plan to get a new one this year, and although I have the money for it I'm kinda hesitating. Don't know why, but, I hope I'll decide if I'll buy it now or another time.
So, helpfully I'll be done with my exams in about a week and then finally get some time for myself and come visit the site as I should
'Till then, Cheers!
