Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal

Review by anihimrox

Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal is the third game in the series and was released on November 2nd, 2004 in North America.

This was a fun game to play, and there is a ton of action in the game. You won't be disapointed playing this game.

The story starts off with Ratchet and his robot buddy Clank channel surfing through the TV. Just as they were watching an episode of "Secret Agent Clank", Clank's TV series, a news telicast interupts the episode and reports that Ratchet's home planet, Veldin, is being attacked by an army of Tyhrranoids. Ratchet & Clank rush over to Veldin and stop the army. After doing so, they are contacted by the President on the wearabouts of the only man who has defeated Dr. Nefarious, the villain of the game. Captain Quark, the man who defeated Nefarious, has lost his memory and thinks he is a monkey. Ratchet and Clank, along with the Q-Force, must stop Nefarious's forces to destroy all organic life.

The Gameplay is awesome: The game features a mix of combat and shooting. There are several guns to be obtained in the game, and when progressing through the game, all the weapons (apart from the RY3NO) can be upgraded to 8 maximum levels of strength (once upgraded to the 8th level, the weapon also gets a new name and a major upgrade). There are also 10 gadget that Ratchet can collect to progress through the game, which allows Ratchet to do spacific tasks such as to run faster or jump higher. If Ratchet has no other routes to take, then you can play as Clank, Ratchet's best friend. The player can have Clank command small robots called gadgebots to perform spacific tasks to help progress through the game. A important part of the game is where you play a 2D side scrolling game called the Qwark Vid Comic, where the player controls Captain Quark and plays through his life story in the Ratchet & Clank universe. The game also gives hints to what will happen next in the main story of the game. There are also a large range of enemies. They are easy as the game starts but when the player progresses through the game they become much stronger and tougher. Once defeating an enemy, the player collects Titanium Bolts, that allow the player to buy upgrades such as tougher armor and health upgrades.

The game also features a multiplayer option, where you can play online of offline. Multiplayer modes include the classic Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and a new option called Seige, where you attack the base and try to capture the power core inside. The maximum number of players is eight online, and is USB headset compatible.

In conclusion, Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal is a great game in the series and is a load of fun to play, in Single Player or Multiplayer. I had a blast playing this game, and you probably will too.

Score: 9/10.
