When playing as Karl in Absolum, your main focus should be on creating an Arcana Spam build that prioritizes quick casting and mana management.

This approach works best when you combine Arcana abilities with Rituals that enhance their frequency and utility, letting you maintain consistent pressure during combat while staying mobile and safe at a distance.

Arcana

The best Arcana to equip for Karl is Rifle Bullet, which lets you fire several fast projectiles in succession. This ability forms the base of the build, as it complements Karl’s kit centered around rapid ranged attacks and continuous Arcana use.

Inspirations

For ideas, use Reload and Infused Shells. As the last improvement from Ederig the Stalwart, you can get Infused Shells. Reload is an important useful choice. When these two Inspirations are used together, Karl can keep working without stopping for long periods of time.

Reload gives you back mana whenever you need it and throws out a bullet casing that triggers Infused Shells, knocking out any close enemies. Because of this combination, Karl can use Arcana more effectively and easily gather more resources before continuing to fight.

Rituals

Any Ritual that affects Arcana works well with Karl since his playstyle triggers them frequently. However, Rose Arcana and Skeletal Arcana are especially effective choices. Rose Arcana summons a Rose turret that adds extra fire support, while Skeletal Arcana spawns a Skeleton ally that helps with defense and damage. Both give you room to manage positioning or reload without direct engagement.

Another useful Ritual is Tornado Jump, which grants one additional jump that spawns a small tornado. Although its damage output is low, it serves an important role in movement. You can quickly move when you're being trapped, which lets you get some space, reload, and start fighting again from a better spot.

Trinkets

For Trinkets, this build doesn't rely too much on rare items. Instead, for constant success, focus on building many Whetstones, Lucky Charms, and Eyeball Charms. Eyeball Charm increases damage against single targets by 10%, Whetstone boosts critical hit damage by 25%, and Lucky Charm raises your Luck by 2.5.

You should also consider equipping Lord’s Bracelet, a rare trinket that increases your damage by 30% when your health is at 100% or higher. Since Karl generally fights from a distance, you’ll often remain at full health, making this trinket a strong fit for the build. Combining these items enhances Karl’s overall output and lets you make the most of his ranged Arcana strategy.
