Dawn of War II - Your Opinions?
Games by DeltaX on Feb 18, 2009
So, Relic has released the newest title in its groundbreaking Dawn of War series. However, most people have complained about the drastic change from standard cookie-cutter RTS, with the absence of base-building and more focus on small, bloody skirmishes between the 4 factions of the game (The whole world itself has 7 main factions, and many different factions thrown in between).
Reception has either been completely for or against it:
Pros:
- No base building
- Focuses more on the troops and their personalities
- Keeps the game action-oriented and that it assures that no moment is ever without action
- The Games for Windows Live system allows you to keep in touch with friends
- Simple and easy to get into for RTS newbies
Cons:
- No base building
- Too much focus on the troops
- The UI is too drab/meh/eww for people
- No massive army battles
- Windows Live screws things up
And plenty more that I've probably overlooked. With a IGN Review of 9.0, it doesn't look like this game will bomb anytime soon. So for those of you that have played it, what are your opinions?
P.S. This is a test blog.
