Today at Microsoft’s E3 press conference Ubisoft revealed Splinter Cell: Blacklist. This new entry of the Splinter Cell franchise our favorite covert operative Sam Fisher returns and is placed into a dangerous region along the Iran and Iraq border. A group of rouge nations have created what is known as The Blacklist: a series of attacks on America that escalate as they continue. They demand that U.S. troops withdraw or they will attack.
The demo starts with Sam infiltrating one of these terrorist camps by using a disguse and executing all the targets. Afterward Sam goes deeper into the camp utilizing his special training and gear. Despite his stealth and speed Sam is soon outnumbered, but calls in a UAV to take down the turret. Once his target has been located using his snake-cam Sam attempts to capture his target only to have him commit suicide.
In the gameplay video Sam is tasked with capturing and interrogating a terrorist leader named Jared to prevent the next Blacklist attack. Returning is Sam’s cleaver array of weapons, gadgets, and vicious techniques such as the multi-vision goggles to mark targets and the ever fun mark and execute technique with a twist. Sam can now move while engaging mark and execute allowing for quick maneuvers through each field for multiple kills beyond the limit, better known as killing in motion. Ubisoft also showed how players can use Kinect to input commands easily. During the final portion Ubisoft showed how Sam can call in support when things become too hot.
Not only does the single-player look spectacular it was also announce the Splinter Cell: Blacklist with host cooperative play and Spies vs. Mercs. The only disappointment is that Michael Ironside will not be playing Sam Fish, but Eric Johnson will be.
