EA Press Conference Overview

Today EA started off E3 2016, revealing new information on known games, new future releases, and never before seen footage. Here's the complete recap of everything that happened.

Titanfall 2

As expected Titanfall 2 opened the show with brand new information. The single-player trailer leaked a couple of hours before the presentation but it see had fans looking on in glee. Of course the first Titanfall game didn't win over the hearts of millions because of single-player content, it was multiplayer. Respawn didn't disappoint and delivered a trailer filled with new features and a lot of explosions. For our complete analysis click here.

Titanfall 2 will launch on October 28th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

More Emphasis on Competitive Play

Peter Moore made it clear that EA wants to give more players the chance to compete competitively, regardless of skill level. While focusing on EA Sports title such as Madden EA promises to incorperate other large franchises into the Esports.

EA seeks to accomplish this with weekly competitions in their biggest franchies through three tiers:

1. Challenge
Community run tournaments
2. Premier
Competitions Hosted by EA and Partners
3. EA Major
Competitions hosted by EA on Large Stages

The first of these events will start this weekend with Madden NFL 16. EA promises to deliver a year worth of matches in NFL Madden 17 with 1 million in prize money.

Very Little on Mass Effect Andromeda

EA is still sketchy on details regarding Mass Effect Andromeda but confirmed few details that have been floating around.

1. Mass Effect Andromeda will feature a brand new adventure far from the Milky Way Galaxy
2. Humanity is searching for a new home in Andromeda
3. Expect new creatures and alien races
4. Return of the Mako and expanded vehicle exploration
5. A large open world to explore on each planet

The trailer did reveal something new, a female character stating waking up from up we can assume is cyrogentic sleep while traveling to Andromeda. Since she's in the trailer we can also assume she'll play an important role in the game. We'll learn more this Fall.

Play to Give

EA wants to give back and plans to have the community of gamers play a major role these charitable donations. EA plans to donate 1 million dollars to various organizations depending on how many player's complete in-game challenges in specific titles. This includes FIFA 16, Madden 16, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, Star Wars Battlefront, and Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes.

FIFA 17 Single-Player?

Strangly FIFA 17 is taking a new direction, focusing on the journey of Alex Hunter. The trailer highlighted the athlete's rise to greatest including personal challenges and drama found in single-player campaigns. EA also tounched on that FIFA will feature 3 permier managers in FIFA 17.

EA Originals

EA took notice on how many people loved Unraveled and decided to open EA Originals. This branch of EA will follow 3 rules:

1. Taking time first experiences and bringing them to the world
2. Supporting small developers: Aid in marketing, developing and publishing
3. Funding and Security

The first game to get involved with this program is called Fe, an indie 3D Metriodvania game by Zoink Games. Fe will focus on a Cub's journey through a magical forest to find out where it came from. Players will use music to interact with other creatures and plants within the forest while using stealth to avoid the game's primary antagonist the Silent Ones; creatures who drain sound from everything. Using stealth player's must avoid these deadly creatures.

EA Star Wars

EA Star Wars was lacking in content but EA ensured that they were hard at work with new games within the acclaimed universe. First off Visceral Games is working on an original narrative set to release in 2018 and Respawn Entertainment is also developing an original third-person action adventure Star Wars game. However details on its release was unknown. 

EA confirmed that a new installment in the Star Wars Battlefront franchise is in development and that future games from EA Star Wars will include content from future Star Wars films. A lot of promises, lets see if they deliver. So far its been underwhelming, especially with the criticisms around Star Wars Battlefront.

Battlefield One Closes with High Acclaim

It's hard to argue that Battlefield One wasn't the star of this year's EA E3 press conference. Closing up EA's press conference was new gameplay footage and the reveal of Ultimate vehicles such as The Behemoth, an Armored Train, and Ship. Battlefield One will get a beta this summer, but only for Battlefield Insider users.

Battlefield One is set to release worldwide for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on October 21st.
