Everything We Know About Resident Evil Village

Recently, Capcom confirmed the next big Resident Evil game won't be a remake but a full sequel. With Resident Evil Village launching this 2021 for next-generation systems. What is this game about and where does it take place? We have all the answers to those and many other questions.

1. Years Later

Resident Evil Village will take place years after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. With Ethan Winters living with his wife Mia from the first game. However, their life is turned upside down when Chris Redfield, the legendary hero of the franchise makes an appearance and kills Mia. Plunging Ethan into a brand new nightmare.

Chris has been depicted by promotional art and the trailer to be a shell of his former self and will play a larger role in this game. Unlike in RE7 where the hero only appeared during the finale but later starring in the DLC Not a Hero. It also seems that Capcom decided to return to Chris' RE6 model instead of RE7, likely due to player confusion that made a large part of the community question if it was really Chris. Short answer, yes.

2. Far From Home

The new game will take place in eastern Europe in a peaceful village but other locations such as a castle have been confirmed. With Ethan taking on new monsters such as the confirmed Werewolves, an executioner, and a woman and her followers who are currently unnamed.

3. Right in the Action

Like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Resident Evil Village will be first-person. With the inventory system from Resident Evil 2 and remakes making a return. We also see that money will make a return with Leu being the current currency, which is used in Romania. Many assume that this means the Merchant from Resident Evil 4 will return but he hasn't been seen in the trailer.

4. Umbrella is Present

While not confirmed to what degree Umbrella's logo does appear in the game's trailer. Showing that the corrupt pharmaceutical company is involved in this game. That or this village was part of a long-forgotten project of Umbrella.
