God of War III Demo Impressions
Games by Nerdboy on Nov 24, 2009
It was over four and a half years ago that the original God of War hit the PS2. Somehow, both the original and God of War II passed me up and as the years went by, I never experienced God of War. I'd seen friends play it and of course numerous game play videos. But never had I actually been able to control Kratos myself...that is until last night.
God of War III is easily one of if not the biggest release next year, and for good reason. The first two games in the series recieved raving reviews and the upcoming sequel is looking to be one of the best looking console games ever. Upon starting the demo and seeing that menu screen with half of Kratos' face covering the right side of the screen I was absolutely stunned at the amount of detail put force into his character model. Not to mention, Kratos looks like he's ready to get his killing on...which is exactly what he'll be doing.
The combat in the game, which looks to be much of what the orginal two were, is extremely fluid and easy to use. Unlike some other games it was very very easy for me to pull off large insane combos as I tore through hordes of enemies. Combat is easy to use difficult to master, however once you do master it you'll feel great as your combos become larger and more devastating.
As this is my first time ever playing a God of War game I'm very impressed. This game has basically made me desperately wanting to go out right now and buy the God of War Collection. The demo is an old build, I can't comprehend how it can possibly get better than that but count me as officially hyped for March. God of War is an incredible experience and one that I'm in desperate need for more of.
