Recipe of the Week--Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Ingredients:
2 ¼ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter or margarine (2 sticks) at room temperature
¾ cup sugar
¾ cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (One 12 ounce pkg)
1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Directions:
1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix sugar, brown sugar, butter, vanilla and eggs in a large bowl by hand. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. The dough will be very stiff.
2.Stir in chocolate chips by hand. You'll need to use a sturdy wooden spoon for this and a bit of muscle. You can add the pecans, or other nuts, at this time if desired. Keep stirring and folding the chocolate chips and nuts into the dough until they are evenly dispersed.
3.Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown. You may even think that the chocolate chip cookies are underdone, but they will finish cooking through out of the oven. If you leave them in too long, the cookies will be tough or crispy.
4.You will have to experiment a little for best results with your oven. There’s nothing worse than burned cookies! Let cool completely then remove from cookie sheet.
Chocolate Chip Cookies are one of my most favourites. And I can eat them all the time.Next week I'll be posting my another fave 'Peanut Blossom Cookies'. Enjoy
