Star Wars Battlefront 2 is free for PS Plus. Is it worth your time?

As in every month, Sony has given away two free games to all people with a PS Plus subscription. One of them being Call of Duty WW2, which has faced its own controversy when it first came out, and the other free game and the topic of this retrospective, Star Wars Battlefront 2. If you were at all interested in video game news at the time of Battlefront 2, you’ll know the major controversy that it was embroiled in at the time, for a good couple months, all eyes were on this game, even mainstream media and the world’s governments took a good look at video games in general. People where contacting Disney to see what they had to say about their product being used like, in the end, they didn’t care. Like many huge companies, they don’t care what the people wanted.
But after the dust settled, and everyone moved on to something else to be unhappy towards, people continued to play the game, especially since some of the more predatory microtransactions were taken out and a steady player base has stayed on to keep playing. But since it became free for PS Plus members, a whole crowd of people have breathed new life into the now 3-year-old game. But the question remains after all the controversy is it worth your time?
As in many things that’s a complicated question, the signs up EA’s microtransactions are still deeply rooted in the cosmetic side of things, as well as the loot boxes. But once you get into the game you see that it can be a lot of fun, the 20 v 20 makes it feel like a real war in the stars, lasers flying past your head. It is all fun if you’re a fan of Star Wars, and that’s key. Like most multiplayer games, it’s fun with other people. But if you know nothing about the universe then you won’t find it as entertaining, as the fun comes from playing as your favourite characters from the movies. So, it has my recommendation.
