May has arrived in full swing, bringing not just blooming flowers and warmer days but also a stacked lineup of must-play new and pristine video games in 2025.
Whether you're into brutal roguelikes, offbeat simulations, or high-octane shooters, there's something for everyone this month. From highly anticipated sequels and bold new IPs to genre-defining expansions and remasters, May 2025 is packed with titles that promise to keep your console or PC working overtime.
With a fresh wave of exciting new video games that are about to hit the scene, here's a countdown of the top 10 most anticipated new games dropping this month—plus a few bonus picks you won't want to miss.
#10. Revenge of the Savage Planet
Savage Planet, the quirky colonial sci-fi adventure about cataloging alien flora and fauna while being bombarded with corporate propaganda, is back!
This game is not only a sequel to what is considered a pretty great cozy exploration space game—with a lot of good humor about how everything works out fine—but it also has a hell of a developer's back story.
Google bought the team and then shut them down because the guys were going to be part of Stadia's first-party stuff (obviously, that fell apart). Later on, they were reformed as Raccoon Logic and got their IP back from Google.
This is one of those best-case scenarios where people rooting for the nice guys ended up winning. So they weren't before, but they're called Raccoon Logic Studios now.
Revenge of the Savage Planet looks like a continuation of the first game's story while also building up on it. Probably one gripe with the first game was, "Man, I wish this was third-person" and guess what? The second one is in the third person. It got everyone psyched.
They've also expanded co-op mode, so jetpacking across all the chasms and fighting off aggressive alien wildlife — a lot of the fun of this game is the vertical stuff — is going to be even better now.
Then, do you remember the frustration of first-person platforming? It's real, but not anymore! Raccoon Logic has also promised a more substantial narrative this time around, which is cool because the world narrative-type stuff in the first one was liked by gamers, too.
Revenge of the Savage Planet lands on May 8th for PlayStations, Xboxes, and PC.
#9. RoadCraft
Hey, you know how there are potholes and cracks in roads everywhere? What if you could fix it? What if you had the ability, the tools, and the materials? Well, you don't — at least not in reality. But in the virtual world, you do. Saber Interactive, the masterminds behind Mudrunner and Snowrunner, bring you RoadCraft, a construction simulation game.
You can probably imagine the ground physics based on the two games they've made their name with. But now, you've got 40 types of heavy machinery: bulldozers to clear debris, pavers to lay down asphalt — and you can do it all with up to three friends.
Go out and fix the world — just so you know, not for real, because that would really bother some people if you went out and made everything better for everyone. For whatever reason, that pisses people off a lot. So do it in the virtual world when RoadCraft rolls out on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC on May 20th.
#8. Blades of Fire
Have you ever thought, "I wish God of War had a little more blacksmithing and a little less daddy issues?" Mercury Steam — the team behind Metroid Dread — thought so, too.
In Blades of Fire, you're a warrior on a mission to overthrow the queen, and it's very God of War-like — except it's got a weapon forging system. There are seven weapon families and 30 unique forge scrolls, and you can tailor your arsenal in some unique ways.
Now, one gripe: weapon degradation. You craft some awesome weapons, and they degrade over time. It's a trade-off, but it could be an annoying one for some. Blades of Fire launches on May 22nd for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
#7. Deliver At All Costs
Deliver At All Costs is a chaotic courier simulator set in an alternate 1959, and this game is super weird. You've got mid-century Americana and courier stuff, which, for whatever reason, has become popular recently. And, on top of that, it plays out like an arcade racer, at least from what we've seen so far.
Again, it's not a comparison, but there are certain games where elements of Crazy Taxi seem to sneak in, and this one feels like it does. Also, it is very committed to absurdity: rocket-powered vans, volatile chemicals, and live animal deliveries.
Honestly, it looks like it's going to be both fun and funny. The title is fantastic — Deliver At All Costs — it has that Destroy All Humans vibe, at least in spirit. Hopefully, the game will deliver as its name suggests. It lands on May 22nd for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.
#6. Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny
Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny is a nice little remaster. The original was released in 2002, and now it's back with updated graphics and, more importantly, modernized controls.
The PS2 version was a beautiful game for its time and aged well. The HD resolution looks great, and they've done real work on some models, not just a quick upscale.
There's even a new mode called "Hell" if you think normal demon-slaying is too easy. Moreover, the quality of game improvements includes auto-save, skippable cutscenes, and easy weapon switching. If you pre-order, you get a mini soundtrack pack — five orchestral tracks.
It's epic that Onimusha is making a comeback! Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny is coming to PlayStations, Xboxes, Nintendo Switch, and PC on May 23rd.
#5. The Precinct
If you ever wanted to be a cop in an '80s crime drama, now you can — virtually, of course. In The Precinct, you will play as a cop cleaning up the streets: writing parking tickets, solving crimes, and eventually working on the case of your father's murder.
In many ways, it looks like a reverse Grand Theft Auto, and honestly, more like the old Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2 because it has that semi-top-down perspective. You're not committing crimes because you're the cop. Although let's be real, some of you will still commit crimes.
It looks cool. You can call in squad cars, set up roadblocks, spike strips, and more. The Precinct will be released on May 13th for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
#4. Doom: The Dark Ages
Did you want more Doom Eternal? More Doom 2016? Or did you want to go in the exact opposite direction from Metal Eden's futuristic style and instead go medieval? Then, here you go. You will get Doom: The Dark Ages this May.
The Dark Ages doesn't have just medieval skin on a surface level. It has a lot of new stuff: A shield-saw weapon (think of very angry Captain America), giant mechs called Atlas, and dragon-riding.
It's going to be a spectacle — because the new Doom games are just as much about insane spectacle as fast-paced action. Doom: The Dark Ages lands on May 15th for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
#3. Lost Soul Aside
Lost Soul Aside started as a project with Yang Bing, a solo developer, who made an action RPG that impressed everyone. It grew from there.
Now, it's a large, awesome-looking game—like Final Fantasy XV meets Devil May Cry meets Ninja Gaiden. This is one of those rare success stories where a solo passion project actually turns into something amazing.
In Lost Souls Aside, you've got a unique companion who can turn into weapons or wings; honestly, it looks fun. Lost Soul Aside lands on PS5 and PC on May 30th.
#2. Elden Ring: Nightreign
Did you want more Elden Ring? Of course, you did. Did you want a standalone co-op adventure where you and two friends explore a procedurally generated nightmare world called Limveld?
Probably not specifically — but that's what you're getting! You pick one of eight predefined Nightfarers (fighter, mage, assassin, etc.) and survive a 3-day cycle as the map shrinks toward a showdown with a Nightlord.
It's a roguelike game with a battle royale flavor. You can play solo, but it's pretty brutal alone, which some fans could see as a challenge. It's $40 for the base game, but there's also a $200 collector's edition if you're feeling fancy. Elden Ring: Nightreign launches May 30th for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
#1. Dune: Awakening
Were you thinking, "Man, I'd love a Dune game, but maybe not one about sleeping"? Great, Dune: Awakening has you covered. It's a survival MMO: a big open world where you build shelters, craft gear, form alliances (or rivalries), and take part in big PvP and PvE battles.
It has a deep character design and development, in which you define your Sleeper's appearance, background, and mentor—all of which affect your abilities and journey. Dune: Awakening looks like a seriously awesome game. It will be released on May 20th on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
Everspace 2: Wrath of the Ancients
For quick bonus picks, we have a major DLC, Everspace 2: Wrath of the Ancients, with four new star systems, a new player ship (the Wraith), and lots of new quests.
With Adam going on a new journey, Everspace 2 is landing on May 12th on all platforms.
Metal Eden
Another one is Metal Eden, a fast-paced, futuristic FPS from the Ruiner developers. It features grappling hooks, wall-running, and that flow state rhythm.
Demos are available now; the full game will be released on May 6th on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
Nice Day for Fishing
Lastly, we have a pixel art adventure RPG where you fish, fight, and save the world.
Becoming an epic fisherman, you can play Nice Day For Fishing from May 29th, which is available on PC, PS5, and Switch.
In that case, it doesn't matter whether you are chasing dragons in Doom: The Dark Ages, forging epic weapons in Blades of Fire, or unraveling alien mysteries in Revenge of the Savage Planet; May 2025 is bursting with unforgettable gaming moments.
With something new for every type of player— a cozy explorer, hardcore action fan, or nostalgic dreamer alike- this month proves the industry isn't slowing down anytime soon.
Nonetheless, clear your schedule and get ready to dive into some of the year's most exciting new releases.
