This weekend was a fun one for me. The first viking event of the year and it was a good one. Lots of new people were there, as well as a craft competition. The feast was great and I got to try out some racoon meat. But all the other nonsense is not what you want to see. You want to see the fighting bits right? I was prepared for this, and thus I assigned a camera gal (who I fired afterwards for being not good at aiming and for being outsmarted by the camera). I have 2 videos, 1v1 duels and group battles.
I am the fool in the group fights with the red shield that has the yellow design on it and the spearman in duels.
A few notes:
Chris pulls off a lot of wicked moves, pay close attention to his fights with Seth.
When John finishes Phil, he actually hit him in the head and made his face bleed a bit (helmet FTW)
When John takes on Jessica, it should be obvious he isn't trying too hard. It was her first fight afterall.
Since we have a few brony-vikings, the girl fight is nicknamed Twilight Sparkle vs Rainbow Dash.
When Kelsey fought Seth, Seth was slapping her with the side of his blade and not the edge until the end.
When I fought John, I got a few hits on him but they weren't substantial enough to get through mail (I am used to fighting unarmored foes so I am used to holding back a lot more). I also got hit on my left arm, which is why I dropped my spear.
Jeff is not good at holding formation, but tis his first time. He gets out of formation in 2 of the fights.
The camera gal decided to censor me killing Jessica at the end of the first fight, I think.
The 2nd fight, I had to circle around to avoid trampling a corpse and I got 4 kills as I outflanked them.
The 3rd fight I took a hit to the shield arm, so I had to switch to just my hand axe.
There was another shieldwall fight, in which I took a shot right to the nose piece of my helm. We still won that round, so all and all my team went 3-1 despite being heavily outnumbered. We did have John, Chris, and Seth who have done this for a LONG time (plus I was beasting in the ones I survived).
@amaya: Which often leads to those "know-it-all" types trying to say things like, "All he had to do is rush him and the guy with the big axe couldn't have done anything," and stuff like that (my dad being one of them). Because someone who has just watched this one video knows more than the people who have been fighting for 20 years.
