A chair is just a chair. Is this true? Does it mean there isn’t a difference between a gaming and office chair? Can you buy any and have the same experience? Let’s find out:

Comfort is one of the most important things to consider when buying a chair, especially if you will be sitting for long hours. So which one should you go for, for maximum comfort? To answer this question, we need to look at the comfort features in both chairs and see how they compare.

Right off the bat, while both the gaming and office chairs have the recline feature, a standard office chair has a limited range of motion, so you aren’t as comfortable as with the gaming chair that has a fuller recline. This feature comes in handy when you have been sitting for hours, and you need to stretch.

Both the gaming and office chairs have fixed headrests, but gaming chairs have an added head cushion that allows you to lean back in a reclined position, so you are more comfortable.

Armrests are adjustable in both chairs, which makes them easy to move around in.

So in the gaming vs. office chair comfort battle, who wins?

The waterfall seats in standard office chairs make them comfortable to sit on in the short term, but as you start tiring, the gaming chairs become a better alternative. So if you will be sitting for long hours, gaming chairs are the ones to go for.

Make and design

Office chairs are principally made from two materials: leather and mesh. Mesh chairs allow more airflow and keep you cool, which comes in handy when working in a hot office.

Leather chairs look great and are often comfortable in the initial stages but with time the real leather wears out, the chair loses it's cushioning and you have to replace it.

Gaming chairs, on the other hand, are made from faux leather. The material looks great, and unlike real leather, it won’t wrinkle. This means that a well-made gaming chair lasts much longer. Not to mention that it looks good for long.

Gaming chairs also come in a variety of bright, exciting colors and designs that will spice up your office.

Gaming chairs are often bigger and heavier than standard office chairs, so you need to ensure that your office is large enough.

Due to their materials and features, gaming chairs are more expensive than office chairs. While this is the case, you should note that you always get what you pay for.

If you buy a cheap chair, whether it’s a gaming or office chair, you won’t get a similar experience as when you buy an expensive chair.

If you are an avid gamer and spend hours playing, you should go for a high-end office or gaming chair as it will be more comfortable and last longer.

On the other hand, if you are an occasional gamer and when you play, you do it for just short periods, a simple, cheap chair will suffice.
