P.T., or Silent Hills as many refer to it, was a playable teaser released by Konami. It was a demo for a Silent Hill game created by Hideo Kojima, but following Kojima’s departure from the company, the game was quickly scrapped, and the demo taken down forever.
Now however, a modder by the name of AmbientDruth has released a mod for Half-Life: Alyx that brings P.T. to life on PC for the first time, using the Source Engine 2.
This first version of the mod is quite comprehensive. It includes the talking paper bag, the looping corridor, the red corridor ending, radio ambience, light and rain ambience, and even Lisa’s voice.
AmbientDruth plans to add some triggers in the future that will see the in-game radio turn on and off, further creeping out the player. The plan is to eventually fully recreate P.T. within Half-Life: Alyx, making it the VR experience that it always should have been. Once that has been achieved, some easter eggs will also be added, which should serve to make P.T. the Silent Hills demo that they’ve always wanted.
While there are a lot of differences between the original P.T. and this version right now, the intention is that by the end of development it will be a complete remake for PC. If you’re interested in playing it, you can download it from Steam here.
