Nintendo and Bandai Namco announced that they are teaming up to bring another one of their iconic characters to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This time, original Tekken poster child Kazuya Mishima will be joining the roster as the next downloadable character. Kazuya will use many of his Tekken abilities, utilizing long combo strings with careful timing. Some moves will release his Devil Gene powers, including his Ultimate Smash move. Kazuya’s win quotes are also performed by the Tekken announcer instead of the typical Smash voice.

The teaser trailer poked fun of the Mishima tradition of tossing defeated enemies off of cliffs, a common ending for multiple characters. In gameplay it also showcased Kazuya squaring off against other fighting game stars Ryu and Terry Bogard. Outside of the character himself, the Mishima dojo from Tekken 7 will be the featured stage and include lots of music from the series. Patriarch Heihachi Mishima appears in the background, making it unlikely that he will ever become an Echo Fighter or Assist Trophy.
