S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Developer Removes NFT Content After Massive Backlash

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 won't feature NFTs anymore

By Grayshadow, Posted 17 Dec 2021

NFTs are the new trend that everyone wants to get into because of many reports of people selling these digital tokens for hundreds of thousands. Ubisoft confirmed they're bringing NFTs to Ghost Recon Breakpoint and then S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2's developers did the same. Despite the YouTube dislikes going fully private those annoyed by this took that rage to Twitter and now the developers have decided to remove this feature from the upcoming game.

While NFTs are not a bad thing they've been molded into something insidious. With many purchases being of absurd pictures made using the most basic tools, recycled assets, or low effort in an attempt to get rich quickly.

NFTs can work in games if constructed using unique items designed with care. Such as unique mounts featured in World of Warcraft or exclusive armor in titles like Apex Legends. Allowing the user to sell that unique item would give players more incentive to earn these items but it looks like it more leaning towards the greedy side of things.
