Obsidian Entertainment’s Pentiment Has Low Minimum Specs

Obsidian Entertainment’s new game Pentiment has surprisingly low minimum PC specs for a game from a AAA studio.

Obsidian Entertainment’s latest game, Pentiment, has quite low minimum specs, and this means that those who have weaker PCs should be able to handle the game. Pentiment is also releasing on both the Xbox One and the Xbox S/X, although they should be able to handle the graphical needs of the game easily without needing to worry about specs.

Obsidian Entertainment announced the specs on Twitter, and it isn’t very common that a AAA developer releases a smaller game like this, but it should be interesting to see what they do with it. The low specs also mean that far more people will be able to enjoy this indie-looking game from a big-budget developer. The specs are as follows:

- OS: Windows 7 (SP1) 64bit
- Processor: Intel Core i3-3225
- Memory: 4GB RAM
- Graphics: Nvidia GTA 650 Ti
- Storage: 12 GB

These specs indicate that Pentiment is made to work on machines that would have been released back in 2012. The processer and graphics card released that year, and so this should be able to run on just about anything provided it isn’t more than a decade old, and even then, it may still work!

Pentiment is an adventure game set in Bavaria, and it has strong religious overtones and is all about trying to solve some murders while engaging in a strong character-focused narrative that factors in player choice to a considerable degree. For this reason, it’s quite similar in its basic plot elements to Umberto Eco’s The Name of the Rose. Furthermore, Pentiment is not a game for the light-hearted, as it’s Steam page states:

Pentiment contains public executions, stylized gore, suicide, references to abortion, frequent strong language, references to sexual assault, and references to sexual activities. Small parts of the game also reference notable alcohol consumption and incidental ergot-induced hallucinations.

So, check out Pentiment if you’re interested in a dark religious story, and you may not even need a good PC to do it!
