Nintendo is running out of time to bring a new console to the market. It has been known that some next-generation console is in their developmental cycle, however, their existence has been a major point of interest for both developers and gamers. While there are rumors and some evidence that the successor to Switch might be coming next year, the Nintendo president stated it was never the case and there is no such thing as Nintendo Switch 2 in the works.

During the recent financial analysis, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa had to put an end to the constant questions and assumptions about the Switch successor by saying it was never in the works to begin with. Despite the bold words, people had seen the screening of Nintendo Switch 2 in Gamescom in Cologne. It is said that a bulkier and faster version of Switch was showcased with titles such as the Matrix game that runs on Unreal Engine 5.

Not only that but in a recent interview with the Nintendo of America, it was stated the company is planning to keep an ongoing account system while players are transferring their data from one console to another. Since all consoles of Nintendo had different account systems, this could only mean an upcoming, new system to migrate your personal data to, which everyone believes to be the Switch 2.

Although there are strong pieces of evidence to support this claim, a Japanese business paper that had its interview with Furukawa, was shared today. In the interview, the president denied the works of a current successor to their current console. When forwarded with the question of whether developers were briefed about the new console, they stated it was untrue.

Nevertheless, Nintendo might be hiding something regarding their console lineup, as their rivals have already established great and solid ground with their latest generation of consoles, while Nintendo is still supporting their 8-year-old console to this date. Nintendo Switch is still capable of delivering titles that are completely worth playing, but as time goes on, the relevancy of the hardware becomes less and less apparent, and Nintendo has to do something about it until it's too late.
