ZLongame Postpones Archeland Global

Archeland Global got postponed and EoS'ing Korean Version too.

There has been a lot of anticipation for Archeland since its announcement in 2022. Still, none of it has materialized because of the lengthy period when creator ZLongame has been silent. The devs have finally broken the silence. And those who have been to play Archeland Global are no longer happening. The global version will be closing on August 1st, but the Korean version will as well. The Archeland Korean website has published an official statement confirming this.

On June 5th, 2023, Archeland was last updated on ZLongame's official Twitter. Ever since then, there have been no updates. After introducing us to all these characters and showing us some beautiful animations, ZLongame suddenly became quiet. This game seemed like the largest missed opportunity ever, and it proved that a game's first few months of sales aren't always indicative of its long-term success; instead, one should consider the trend over time.

There has been talk about how ZLongame isn't performing financially and how they aren't generating enough to keep developing the game. But it's astonishing the way this game's earnings started strong in Korea, with $10 million in the first month. However, after a couple of months, it declined, didn't recover, and eventually ended up EoS'ing rather quickly for a high-budget gacha these days.

I was under the impression that they were regularly adding new content and fixing bugs to the game. A significant number of the single-player role-playing games (SRPGS) that have been released over the previous few years have not been successful. Without a well-known brand associated with it, I don't see how SRPGS could be successfully adapted into a gacha game. The success of Girls' Frontline, for instance, was entirely attributable to the show's name and premise.

Our best bet is that they can salvage the situation and release a superior Global version. Unless anything changes, the game's worldwide expansion will not happen, disappointing many who wanted it to.
