As with many indie games released on Steam, Cinders successfully made its way through Steam Greenlight on February 19, 2014. With beautiful illustrations by Gracjana Zielinska, Cinders "is a mature take on a classic fairytale with a heavy emphasis on player choice."
Like the well-known fairytale Cinderella, Cinders focuses on the life of a young woman, her stepmother and two stepsisters, however, unlike Cinderella, Cinders is more gutsy, with the game exploring "the more complex nature of oppression, responsibility and innocence." In exploring this, players make choices that matter; decisions that alter the main character's personality and influence the storyline.
Focusing on the lives of all four women, Cinders unravels the reasons behind why these women are the way they are and explores a more adult world "about growing up and finding out the true meaning of independence."
MoaCube announced that Cinders will release on Steam tomorrow, May 1, for PC and Mac. If you want to check it out before spending your hard earned money, you can download the demo here.
