Sony Gets The Free Map Support In Killzone Shadow Fall Right

Your PS4 cost enough, so Sony is giving you The Canyon in Killzone Shadow Fall for free.

Are you still playing Killzone Shadow Fall on your shiny PlayStation 4? Then you probably feel like changing it up right now, which is why Sony has launched a new map, free of charge, no less.

This area, dubbed The Canyon, is one of the game's more rundown settings, with frayed concrete everywhere, rock formations and a few mining spires here or there. You’d think this comes with the standard monochrome bleakness of any shooter, which is partially true, but Killzone Shadow Fall does manage to spray some colorful filters through the environment as well. Furthermore, the map holds a unique gravity well system, which messes with the laws of nature a little. You can still fall down though. There are chasms surrounding the map for that sort of thing.

This isn’t the first time Killzone Shadow Fall launched free maps either. Previously, they added The Cruiser map that focused on corridor shootouts, as well as The Hangar for more open areas. Both locations had a nice futuristic shine to them.

Sony is spot on when it comes to their shooter support. No nickel and dime tactics to give players new ways to play, even if they do also offer paid downloadable content. They extended this sort of generosity to Killzone Mercenary, the PS Vita iteration in the franchise, when they introduced both the Tharsis Depot and Blood Gracht areas for the mobile release. Is anyone still playing that one as well, by the way? You can now play with bots offline, so you don’t even need multiplayer access at all time.

Meanwhile, what's Microsoft doing that's so great? Oh right, the Kinect thing; nevermind.
