2018 DICE Awards to Honor Nintendo’s Genyo Takeda with Lifetime Achievement Award

The annual DICE Awards honors the best in gaming achievements for the past year and the contributors and creative minds fueling the gaming industry with innovative work. This year Genyo Takeda, Nintendo hardware designer and game maker, will be honored this year.

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences announced today that the organization will be honoring Nintendo’s Genyo Takeda with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming DICE Awards in February. 

Takeda began working at Nintendo in 1972. During his time at the company, Takeda shaped the hardware designs such as the Nintendo 64, GameCube, and Wii. Takeda also created Punch-Out!! and StarTropics. Takeda retired from Nintendo at the age of 68 in 2017.
