Pokémon Snap Lives Again In This Free Mobile Game

Remember Pokémon Snap? You should. The newest Pokémon iOS game does too.

Pokémon is spreading its wings onto different platforms more and more, as another game has made it to mobile devices on iOS. Camp Pokémon, as the free download is called, is a series of mini-games that lets players explore an island teeming with activity.

Some of the games have a slight educational tone. For instance, Battle Matchups tests the ability to pick out the proper type for an opposing Pokémon, since elements can make attacks super effective. In Pokémon Evolutions, the missing evolution has to be chosen correctly. Pokémon Focus even takes on the classic intermezzo from the show, where a silhouette is presented and you guess who it is. Remember that? Good times.

There are also some more action-oriented games in Camp Pokémon. In Poké Ball Throw, you hurl a red and white ball at cardboard cutouts, just like those old fairground games. Our personal favorite, however, is Find the Pokémon, which sort of takes us back to the Nintendo 64 days of Pokémon Snap. A certain character is hidden inside a location and it’s up to a lens to sniff it out and capture it.

Mini-games, such as Find the Pokémon, also come with rewards. These vary from pins that can be seen at the player’s cabin or the possibility to unlock more areas to continue the search for more Pokémon.

Previously, iOS mobile devices also received a Pokémon Trading Card Game. It’s time for some of these to come over to Android as well, because it’s feeling awfully barren right now. Download Camp Pokémon here.
