Mario is finally hitting the mobile scene, legitimately, with Super Mario Run for iOS next week and Nintendo in addition to a new live-action trailer Nintendo has confirmed that an internet connection is required to play.
Speaking in an interview with Mashable Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto detailed that the game will require a constant internet connection to prevent piracy. Miyamoto stated that the game is releasing in 150 countries and since each country has its own network environments a constant connection is necessary to secure all users. This means all three modes will require you to be online to play.
