Today, Gun Media and Illfonic has released the Announcement Trailer for Friday the 13th: The Game. You can view the trailer below:

After being launched on Kickstarter back in 2015, Friday the 13th: The Game seemed like it would never gain ground, however, after seeing multiple setbacks and development hell… the wait is over. The game originally titled Slasher Vol. 1 Summer Camp by Illfonic in 2015 was only in its infancy when Friday the 13th creator Sean S. Cunningham caught wind of what the developers were trying to accomplish. After obtaining the license to develop the game and acquiring the rights, the Friday the 13th: The Game was born.

At launch, the game will only have a multiplayer option available. The format is a 1 vs 7 which will see the camp counselors trying to survive and team up against one player who will play as Jason Voorhees. There are three maps based on the movie locations: Camp Crystal Lake, Higgins Haven and Packanack Lodge. It has not yet been revealed if all the camp counselors will be modeled off the movies, but in the trailer, we can clearly see the likeness of counselor Tommy Jarvis who played the protagonist in most of the Friday the 13th movies.

A single-player mode will be added later as a free update and is set to release late summer Q3 2017.

Friday the 13th: The Video Game is set to terrorize gamers on May 26, 2017 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam.
