Ubisoft Announces Plans to Open Two New Studios in Quebec Over the Next Decade

Ubisoft announced today that the giant video game company plans to create 1,000 new jobs in Quebec, Canada by opening 2 new studios over the next decade.


The first studio will open early 2018 in Saguenay and will be named Ubisoft Saguenay. This division of Ubisoft will be operated by Jimmy Boulianne, serving as managing director, and will be focused on creating advancements in online space. Over 125 new jobs will be created in Ubisoft Saguenay over the course of 5 years.

The next studio is a mystery but the goal is to have it open by 2027. No details on its location or purpose were given but Ubisoft plans to spend $780 million within the region over the course of the next 10 years.

CEO of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, spoke to about the company's future:

"We are proud to have contributed to the emergence of Quebec as a world-renowned hub for video game development. Over 20 years, Ubisoft has created more than 3,600 jobs, invested more than $3.5 billion and developed some of the greatest brands in the industry here in Quebec. Today, video games are the most dynamic segment of the entertainment industry, and are at the heart of technological revolution. As a result, we have a unique opportunity to build tomorrow’s Quebec, together."

Ubisoft's next big game, Assassin's Creed Origins, is set to release October 27th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
