The online service for the PlayStation 3 classic that launched the Dark Souls franchise is coming to an end. Demon's Souls online service will shut down this week.
The service was planned to end in 2012 but was canceled due to popularity within the game. The service will end at 3 AM EST on February 28th. Players will no longer be able to access online multiplayer or see in-game messages from other players.
Demon's Souls launched back in 2009 for the PlayStation 3 and was one of the most acclaimed titles on the system. Set in a dark fantasy world full of difficult challenges Demon's Souls set the edifice for the debut of Dark Souls, which ended with Dark Souls 3. While the game hasn't been remastered, yet, those hoping to re-experience the beginning of the series can with Dark Souls Remastered.
