Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime Says He’d Love for Red Dead Redemption 2 to be on Switch

Could Red Dead Redemption 2 come to the Nintendo Switch?

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the biggest releases this year. While the adventure will most likely make it to PC in 2019 it looks like Nintendo of America's President Reggie Fils-Aime would like to see Rockstar's latest masterpiece on the Nintendo Switch.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter Fils-Aime explained while he would love to see Rockstar's latest game on the Nintendo Switch the title was too far in development for it to come to the Nintendo Switch.

Fils-Aime’s full comment was as follows:

“Absolutely. We’d love for it to be there. But again — and this is where there needs to be an understanding of just the development process — Red Dead has been in development for years, time that predated any communication of Nintendo Switch. So, from the developer’s mentality, they need to move forward and finish the game they’ve been working on and then be in a position to look at other opportunities. Any game from a key third-party that’s coming out now, typically that development started well before any conversations about Nintendo Switch. What happens moving forward? We’ll see. But that’s how you wind up with a situation with Red Dead not being available on our platform.”

Another issue that Rockstar would likely face is the technical limitations of the Nintendo Switch. Titles ported to the Nintendo Switch have to be specially developed, which is why Dead by Daylight or Monster Hunter World haven't been ported to the popular system.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is now available for Xbox One and PS4.
