Cuphead DLC The Delicious Last Course Delayed to Next Year
Cuphead DLC The Delicious Last Course gets a new trailer and release date
News by Grayshadow on Jul 02, 2019
Back in E3 2018, Studio MDR confirmed that their indie smash hit Cuphead would be getting new DLC called The Delicious Last Course. Since then no information has been provided until today. Where we got a trailer and a release window.
The Delicious Last Course will release in 2020 and the new trailer highlighted new bosses, newcomer Ms. Chalice in action, and a new salt shaker ally.
Here’s a statement from Studio MDHR about the upcoming DLC and its delay:
“While we initially announced a 2019 release date for the ‘Delicious Last Course’ expansion, our highest priority is making sure this new adventure meets the meticulous level of care and quality we always strive for. We want to be absolutely certain that this next adventure feels at home in the world of ‘Cuphead’ and is full of moments that surprise and delight players. Furthermore, the development of the original game taught us a great deal about the importance of making things in a way that’s healthy and sustainable for our team.
With that in mind, we’re taking a page out of Chef Saltbaker’s book, and spending the necessary time to get the recipe just right – this means that we’ll be moving the release of ‘The Delicious Last Course’ to 2020. This wasn’t an easy decision to make, but we’re confident it’s one that will result in a higher quality experience that’s all the sweeter when it does arrive.”
Cuphead was notorious for its constant delays but the final product more than made up for it. Many citing that the game's lengthy development was worth the wait. The developers did explain that the constant delays were due to the cartoonish art style, which Cuphead was praised for, which required hand-drawn animation to maintain the acclaimed look. This is likely why the DLC is currently delayed to 2020.
