Battlefleet Gothic: Armada is drawing closer

Warhammer 40k takes to space.

Ever since Dawn of War II: Retribution came out we don't seem to have gotten anything close to resembling a proper Warhammer 40k title. In fact, the attempts that were made ended up being simply forgettable. This year, however, it appears that we do have a couple of games, that make use of the licence, to look forward to. Tindalos Interactive's Battlefleet Gothic: Armada happens to be one of them. It takes Warhammer videogames into new territory as it's being developed as an RTS focused on space combat.

Space combat in Warhammer 40k features behemoth-sized starships and, judging by the screenshots, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada does seem to get scale right. There will be 4 available factions: The Imperium, Chaos, Orks and Eldar. The game will feature both an expansive single-player campaign as well as a multiplayer mode that supports up to 4 players and includes persistent fleets, all set on the background of the 12th Black Crusade. The release date at the time of writing is set for March 2016. The pre-purchase price, which is discounted by 10%, is that of 35,99 euros or your regional equivalent and, should you buy it before launch, you'll get an extra Space Marine fleet that will be released as paid DLC after the game comes out.
