Gamescom is one of the biggest events of the year but those hoping for new information about upcoming Blizzard projects at the event will have to wait. The company has revealed they will not attend Gamescom this year.
Blizzard did share their reason for not attending.
“As part of a renewed effort this year to maintain our focus on development, for our current games and our future projects, we won’t have a booth at gamescom 2019,” the message on Blizzard’s site said. Of the future, Blizzard’s statement ended by saying, “We’re also looking forward to sharing more details about the projects we’re currently working on when the time is right.”
This could be the large amount of negative attention Activision Blizzard has been facing. Deciding to try and regain faith by waiting until something can be shown to regain the faith of the community.
From 2018 until now, Activision Blizzard laid off a majority of its staff following record profits, have double-downed on microtransactions for its existing games such as selling reticles in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and revealed of Diablo Immortal at BlizzCon 2018.
