Capcom Unveils Resident Evil Puppet Village

Capcom uses puppets to promote the new Resident Evil.

Capcom has released a new promotion for Resident Evil Village featuring muppet style puppets of the main antagonists. The three minute short includes kid friendly versions of Karl Heisenberg, Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, the doll of Donna Beneviento, and Salvatore Moreau. The Japanese voice actors reprise their roles with a more light hearted tone. The skit at first seems like it will be tame, including a song and dance and indications that the four will engage in fun learning activities. However, things turn dark when Heisenberg accidently kills Moreau in a violent display of glitter and confetti. Dimitrescu tries to at first bring the program back on track, but becomes violently obsessed after drinking Moreau’s spilled blood.

The video also shows some stats and reminder of the upcoming demo. The implication is that this is only the first short, and more puppet promotional videos will release leading up to the game’s release and possibly afterwards. Japanese game ads tend to be avant garde compared to Western ones, and it is unclear if this same promotion will be translated for English audiences.
