Dark Souls 3 director Hidetaka Miyazaki has confirmed, “Dark Souls is over”.
In an interview with Taiwanese site GNN Gamer, and translated by NeoGAF, Miyazaki made it clear that Dark Souls 3 is the last entry in the series.
“Dark Souls 3 will have several DLCs like previous games. But there is absolutely no plan right now for any sequels, spin-offs, or tie-ins”.
Miyazaki did state that he cannot confirm “that the possibility is zero percent” but expressed a strongly that it’s not From Software’s plan to make another game. “What is certain for now is, to me personally Dark Souls is over” Miyazaki stated.
“So rather than make another sequel, I think it’s time we take a step to a new direction. Development of a new IP has already begun.”
“We want to make new things” Miyazaki said.
Miyazaki also closed the books on the possibility of a Dark Souls Remastered. Sorry everyone looks like Miyazaki's serious about moving on.
What are your opinions on the matter? Better Dark Souls 3 conclude on a high-note than result in a poor finish down the line? Let us know in the comments below!
