Today, Square Enix announced the finale for Dissidia: Final Fantasy and Dissidia NT. Stating that the game's upcoming final update will be the last but the company will maintain the game.

The news was provided a few days from the February 20th update. This final update will be added to the console version this March 5th.
The game will no longer get new stages, modes, characters, or any significant content update other than addressing minor issues such as bugs and balancing. Online functions will still be possible but Square Enix confirmed that there are no plans for a new Dissidia.
Dissidia: Final Fantasy did have a long life. With years worth of support. Square Enix added 10 new characters and lots of new outfits, weapons, and even a free version on Steam.
The franchise has been incredibly popular since its debut on the PSP. Serving as a Super Smash Bros. for Square Enix's Final Fantasy characters. Allowing characters from various games to interact with one another and fight. We'll likely see a new game in the next generation if demand is high enough.
