Dota Underlords Admits Slow Updates, Teases Patch
Developer of Dota Underlords has popped their head out of the sand to tease for an upcoming update.

The team at Valve responsible for Dota Underlords, their version of the auto-chess game, has popped their head out of the sand to acknowledge a slower update speed. While the game has still been getting regular tweaks to balance, the usual content shifts have not been as frequent as when the game launched.

Naturally, the developer cites 2020 as a culprit. Moreover, the company curse that pulls people away from projects, to go help others, is also a part of why the auto-chess game has taken a backseat. That notion is pretty funny, considering the team likely consists of people who were taken from Artifact, Valve's botched card battler, which is said to be fully redone. Wouldn't it be ironic if those people abandoned another project to go back to square one?
Anyway, the announcement comes with a tease for an upcoming update. Along with promising new and old roster picks, the patch will have a rank reset. There are also new items, as well as new alliances. Two new heroes have been revealed, out of eight: Death Prophet and Spirit Breaker. The former is a Tier 4 slot, which will have both Fallen and Heartless alliances. Death Prophet will use an Exorcism skill to send off minions to do damage, which return to the character with healing properties.
Spirit Breaker is a Tier 2 choice, with Savage and Brute qualities. Their skill will charge at opponents, damaging any enemy in the way. Their 3-star modifier has been revealed as well, adding damage and a stun chance to their attack.
Auto-chess was all the rage not too long ago, but it seems that the genre has quickly passed its peak. Good old battle royale games have been coming back up to the surface, with the recent release of Hyper Scape drawing lots of attention. This Dota Underlords patch better be huge to draw some eyes back their way.
