Rocket League is one of the most popular live-service games available. Since its debut the title has had a steady player count on all platforms and continues to maintain a strong community following. Now, developer Psyonix has been purchased by Epic Games.
This doesn't mean that the game will be removed from Steam. Epic spoke to US Gamer that Rocket League will remain on Steam.
Psyonix spoke about the deal on their official site, stating that support for Rocket League will not change.
Your first question to news like this might be, "What does this mean for Rocket League and its community?" We’re happy to say that the answers are only positive. Rocket League always has been and always will be a community-driven game, and now that we have joined forces with Epic, we will be able to serve our community in even bigger and better ways!
A similar fear was on the rise following Microsoft's purchase of Mojang. With many afraid that Microsoft platforms would get exclusive access to specific Minecraft content but Mojang was given the freedom to operate and update all versions of Minecraft. Seems the same procedure will occur with Rocket League but only time will tell.
