In an official posting on the Epic Games website, the company has announced its recent acquisition of software development company RAD Game Tools.

Epic opens the statement with the following:
"We are excited to share that Epic Games has acquired the technology and business of RAD Game Tools, a video game software development company whose products and technology appear in close to 25,000 games and are leveraged by the world’s leading gaming companies, including Epic."
The company went on to discuss how they plan to use the newly acquired technology, and that they aim to merge it with that of Unreal Engine's existing attributes.
The combination, Epic proclaim, will "benefit the developer community and gamers alike."
Current RAD team members will partner closely with Unreal Engine's developers, with the merging of the two software's allowing developer's games to "load and download faster" and offer "a better, higher quality video and gaming experience."
While Epic does now own the company, RAD will still continue to support its partners both within and outside the gaming industry - those that do not use Unreal Engine - separately.
